I am a dual board-certified psychiatric and geriatric nurse practitioner with over 25 years of healthcare experience, providing compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to young adults, adults, and older adults. I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, insomnia, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and behavioral or psychological symptoms associated with dementia and complex medical conditions.
My experience spans hospital care, rehabilitation, hospice, and long-term care settings, giving me a deep understanding of the connection between physical and mental health. I am especially comfortable supporting individuals with multiple medical concerns or those navigating life transitions related to aging, illness, or stress.
As one of the country’s few psychiatrists who also practices sex therapy, I can provide unique and specialized services for patients who have been marginalized and oppressed. I offer a combination of sex therapy and medication management, tailored to both your personal and medical needs. While I predominantly follow an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) approach, I also incorporate elements of psychodynamic psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapy, and supportive therapy. I completed medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine (2021), and completed psychiatry residency training at University of Chicago (2025).
I treat 18+ individuals, and specialize in treating individuals within any sexual minority group — including members of the LGBTQIA+, trans, gender-expansive, non-monogamous, and kink communities — plus those who participate in unconventional sexual practices. I also treat couples and individuals within various relationship structures (such as triads, polycules, or other non-monogamous relationships).
I'm January, a dual certified FNP and PMNHP and what that means to my clients is that I provide comprehensive and holistic psychiatric care. I have been providing psychiatric care since 2009 in various settings, mostly outpatient but also consulting for nursing homes, for dementia care, and those with neurodivergence or developmental disability. I have extensive training in providing services to those with treatment resistant disorders such as PTSD, treatment resistant depression, bipolar disorder, and other mood and anxiety disorders including Autism in adults. I have training in ketamine assisted therapy, TMS and other alternative therapeutic techniques to help those with treatment resistant conditions. I am trauma-informed, IFS-informed and also use other evidence-based therapeutic techniques when I see a client for medication management. I know that many times, chronic mental health conditions also co-exist with chronic physical illness and I collaborate frequently with my client's therapist and their whole medical treatment team if necessary to come up with the best approach for improving the quality of life for the individual I am treating. My focus is prescribing medications and supportive therapy with a holistic approach. I'm in this for the client's complete journey into wellness--mind, body, and spirit.
I’m a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and mom of four with a passion for helping people feel balanced, understood, and supported. I earned my nursing degree from Chamberlain University in Chicago and completed my psychiatric graduate training at the University of Kentucky. I’ve been proudly serving patients as a PMHNP since 2022.
I provide care for children (6+), teens, and adults, including parents, professionals, students, and anyone navigating life transitions or emotional challenges. My focus areas include: ADHD, anxiety & panic, depression, bipolar disorders, trauma & PTSD, emotional dysregulation and impulsivity, sleep issues, and mood and behavior concerns in children/teens.
I am a dual-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner, providing whole-person care that recognizes the connection between mental, emotional, and physical health. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, and Women's Health, and I offer a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered. Outside of my practice, I enjoy traveling, event decorating, and spending quality time with my family. I believe maintaining balance and personal fulfillment is an important part of overall well-being, and I bring that same perspective into the care I provide.
